Welcome to English 2730: Functional Grammar

In English 2730, we will take a "descriptive" approach to grammar, looking not at the obsequeous and policing "rules" of grammar handbooks, but at how writers in both popular and academic texts construct texts grammatically. Upon examining these patterns, we will also practice these grammatical structures in our own writing.
