Al Muller (1944-2025)

Muller taught at ECU from 1976 until 2011. He served as the Director of English Education, and his research interests were English Education, Young Adult Literature, American Literature, and Baseball. In 2011, he was inducted into the Educators’ Hall of Fame as Professor of English Education.

Muller received his B.A. from Mercer University and his M.A. and Ph.D from Florida State University.

Those wishing to honor Muller’s memory are encouraged to consider donations to: The Service League of Greenville Hospice House, Greenville Parks and Recreation (Attention: River Park North), Sheppard Memorial Library, and Pitt County Council on Aging.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (1400 S Elm St, Greenville, NC 27858).
