Squint and Pine attend 2023 SAMLA Conference
Dr. Kirstin Squint and English M.A. student Amy Pine attended the 2023 South Atlantic Modern Language Association conference in Atlanta, Georgia, from November 9-11. At the conference, both presented research on the roundtable, “The Future of Indigenous Futurism.” Squint, along with Dr. Miriam Brown-Spiers of Kennesaw State University, co-presented their paper, “‘Imagining Otherwise’ in Indigenous Futurism,” about their collaborative interview with Cherokee Nation author Blake Hausman, published in the 2023 issue of North Carolina Literary Review. Amy Pine presented a paper, “How Tribalography Engages Indigenous Futurism,” based on research she conducted in Dr. Squint’s spring 2023 ENGL 6350: Studies in Native American Literature: The Native South class.
