Shope Nominated for Pushcart Prize

Ashten Shope (2022), recipient of the spring 2022 Outstanding MA in English honor, just published the short story “Aurora’s Edge,” in Snarl, and was nominated for the 2022 Pushcart Prize. The winners will be announced in the coming months. She is now represented by the well-known Trident Media Group of New York, and the novel she wrote for her thesis, Wild Horses, is currently being pitched by her agent to publishers.

Shope writes: “Thanks again for the way the English department honored me as the Most Outstanding Graduate Student. I am so appreciative of my time at ECU and of all that I learned from the tremendous faculty there.
