Doctoral English Student Organization

The Doctoral English Student Organization (DESO) provides support for and promotes interest in professionalization, networking, research, and publication of ECU’s Rhetoric, Writing, and Professional Communication students. Membership is open part-time and full-time English doctoral students. 

 DESO holds monthly business meetings and supports: 

• reading/ writing groups 
• peer thinking partners 
• face-to-face and virtual conversations with professional mentors 
• financial support for conferences and research 
• involvement in academic and professional events 
• opportunities to rehearse and receive feedback on professional presentations for major conferences 
• space, time, and mentor texts to work towards creating an online portfolio and digital footprint 
• online space to share relevant professional resources 
• socialization and networking opportunities
