Cheryl Dudasik-Wiggs
About
Dr. Cheryl Dudasik-Wiggs — who specializes in teaching foundation writing courses — is a recipient of the Bertie Fearing Excellence in Teaching Award, the English Department Service Award, and the inaugural Harriot College of Arts and Sciences’ Fixed-Term Faculty Teaching Award.
She was recently named an ECU Woman of Distinction and received the University’s Dr. Linda Allred Profiles in Leadership Award. In addition, she was awarded a statewide “Star” Award in 2020 and the Betty McCain Award in 2022 for her work with gender equity.
Dr. Dudasik-Wiggs has also been awarded the Chancellor’s Centennial Award for Excellence in Service. And as part of a team of dedicated colleagues who hosted the Console-ing Passions: International Conference on Television, Video, Audio, New Media, and Feminism Conference, she was a co-recipient of the Chancellor’s Centennial Award for Excellence in Ambition.
She has been inducted into ECU’s Servire Society for her work with domestic violence survivors and was named an ECU Leadership Fellow after graduating from (former) Chancellor Steve Ballard’s Leadership Academy. A “Treasured Pirate,” she designed and edited the department’s biannual newsletter for eight years.
Dr. Dudasik-Wiggs co-directed the ECU Gender Studies Program and chaired the ECU Gender Studies Executive Board for ten years, helping to create programming that brought diverse national speakers to campus. Previously, she had directed the university’s Women’s Studies Program.
