Deborah Shoop
About
Deborah Shoop joined the ECU faculty in 2004 and she has taught courses in both the Departments of History and English. She discovered that her love of writing and literature outweighed her love of teaching history and joined the English Department full-time in 2008. Her thesis managed to combine both history and literature with research into the writing and perceptions of gender and voice in American Indian captivity narratives. Teaching is a passion for her equaled only by her avid interest in British history. A confirmed Anglophile, Ms. Shoop is looking forward to her next trip to England and Scotland. When not teaching or traveling, she enjoys working with her local community theater group and spending time with family and friends. She also loves to share downtime with her Mastiff-mix named Marley and an aristocratic Manx cat, Emmy.
